The Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (RQF / NVQ Equivalent) is designed for individuals working in residential childcare settings who are looking to develop their skills and progress within their role.This qualification is mandatory for those working in children’s homes, as set out within sector requirements, and is essential for supporting safe, effective, and high-quality care.It provides learners with the knowledge and practical competence required to support children and young people in residential environments, including those with complex emotional, social, and behavioural needs.Learners will develop key skills in areas such as safeguarding, child development, communication, and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.This course is suitable for those working in children’s homes or similar settings and is a key step in building a long-term career in residential childcare.By completing this qualification, learners will gain the confidence and capability to deliver person-centred care, meet industry standards, and support the wellbeing and development of children and young people.
Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (RQF / NVQ Equivalent), learners will be fully qualified to work within residential childcare settings.

To register on to this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:
• Be employed in a suitable role (as outlined above) within the residential childcare sector.
• Be 18+ years old It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent) to undertake this qualification.
Additionally, it is recommended that learners are able to demonstrate prior achievement of qualifications at a minimum of Level 3 in a related area. It is recommended that learners will have completed a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
This qualification is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and internally quality assured by the centre. To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.

The Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (RQF), learners must complete and pass the qualification to a standard of 61 Credit Value to obtain the full Diploma. Including 53 Mandatory Unit group and a minimum of 3 units from the Optional group making 8 credits.
